Shams said: "Durant and the Rockets' goal is to retire the former in Houston. They will discuss renewal during the offseason and determine the final plan."

Durant's 2025-26 season is the last year of the contract, worth $54.7 million, and will be eligible for renewal on July 6. Durant can sign a two-year, $122 million contract extension contract after renewal, or sign a two-year, $124 million contract extension contract after 6 months.
In the 2024-25 season, the 36-year-old Durant played 62 regular season games for the Suns, averaging 36.5 minutes per game, scoring 26.6 points, 6 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.2 blocks, with shooting percentages in the three events being 52.7%, 43.0% and 83.9% respectively.
