Calls that the Golden State Warriors will once again part ways with Jonathan Kuminga are getting louder. Jonathan Kuminga started the season very strongly, leading the outside world to believe that he would eventually become a long-term cornerstone player for the Warriors. But that changed dramatically as the season progressed, and his performance declined, causing him to drop out of the starting lineup and most recently to a knee problem. And recent reports that Kuminga feels he has once again been scapegoated for the Golden State Warriors' inconsistent performance and is dissatisfied with the team have led to trade talks resurfacing.

The Warriors' top priority is to maximize the support around Curry to raise the team's ceiling. And Kuminga did have a very negative impact on the Warriors' starting lineup, especially Stephen Curry. The data proves the Warriors are a better team when Curry is on the court and Kuminga is resting. The Warriors have a net rating of -1 when Curry is on the court with Kuminga, and a net rating of +6.88 when Curry is on the court and Kuminga is resting. Additionally, the Warriors' three-point shooting percentage is significantly higher when Curry is on the court without Kuminga.

Kuminga may not fit Steve Kerr's tactical system, and trading is the only solution. Although the season is still in its early stages, Kuminga's data in 13 games, averaging 13.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 32.4% three-point shooting percentage per game are not particularly ideal. The Warriors front office may need to start looking for a player who better fits their system, and if they really want to win another championship, they need to make the current roster structure more competitive.
