Jimmy Butler III refuted her age concerns after losing to the Timberwolves in the playoffs, saying that the Warriors "will still have wonderful basketball in the future."

The Golden State Warriors lost 110-121 to the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 5 of the Western Conference Semi-Finals, ending the 2025 playoff journey. While the loss was disappointing, experienced guard Jimmy Butler III made it clear that he remains confident in the team’s future—and that questions about his age are simply not worth worrying about.

Butler scored 17 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals in the game, shooting 4 of 11 shots and shooting 9 of 11 shots. After the game, he shared the vitality and optimism he had since joined the Golden State Warriors.

Butler joined the Warriors from the Miami Heat before the trade deadline and became a stable force in the team's lineup. His arrival helped the Golden State Warriors rise from a banal record of 25-27 to 48-34, eventually leading the team to the second round of the playoffs, although Stephen Curry was out of the game after the first game.

In an interview with ESPN reporter Ohm Youngmisuk, Butler said the new environment has rekindled his passion for the game.

"I feel comfortable. I am very happy. As Buddy Hilder said, I have found happiness. I am lucky to be here," Butler said. Jimmy Butler happily accepted as Stephen Curry's partner, refuting concerns about the aging of the Warriors' core players, but also happily accepted his role at the top of the team, emphasizing that he was grateful to be able to fight side by side with Curry and contribute to the Warriors' selfless system.

"It's really great to come here and know that I'm second only to Curry," Butler said. "It's really refreshing to be his partner."

Butler, 35, was asked about the Warriors' aging core player who only had two years to compete for the championship. In a video shared by The Athletic's Anthony Slater, Butler denied the claim that age limits the team's potential.

"If we can win some games, it's probably going to be longer," Butler said. "Because I still think we have a lot of great games in the future. I don't think the age issue has something to do with how we maintain our bodies, as long as we do it right. I think the potential exists, so we'll go all out this full season, and I think we'll find the answer."

Butler completed his 14th NBA season, averaging 17.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 1.4 steals, and in 55 regular season games, he shot 50.4% from the field and 30.8% from three-pointers. He will be 36 years old in the 2025-26 season, but his contract is still two years away.

Golden State Warriors are now entering the offseason, with Butler, Curry, Draymond Green and head coach Steve Cole signing in 2027. While the Warriors' second round exit raised questions about the depth and stability of the team's roster, Butler's message was clear: The Warriors have not finished the competition yet - so are he himself.
