Jones' contract will last until the 2028-29 season and will have player options in the 2029-30 season.
New Orleans Pelicans forward Herb Jones agreed to renew his contract for three years worth $68 million. Mark Bartelstein, the agent of Priority Sports, confirmed the terms of the deal to the Associated Press Thursday night. Jones' contract ends in the 2028-29 season, with player options available in the 2029-30 season.
The 26-year-old former Alabama star has become a valuable role player after the Pelicans made him a second-round pick in 2021. In addition to averaging 10.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.5 assists in his first four NBA seasons, Jones is also known for defending the pick-and-roll.
Jones was selected for the 2023-24 season’s best defensive first team, and he averaged at least 1.4 steals per season in the league. Although Jones missed most of last season with a shoulder/labral injury and played only 20 games, he was an efficient player when he was healthy.
