Remember Luke Richard Bamot, the Cameroonian prince who discovered stars such as Joel Embiid and Pascal Siakam.
Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, Luke Richard Bamott, 6-foot-8 (203 cm), plays as a small forward (SF). He was born in Yaounde, the capital of the Republic of Cameroon in September 1986. The son of a local chief, his father holds an important position in the local government and is in charge of Cameroon's national employment fund and national employment placement training institutions. Therefore, he is known as the "Prince of Cameroon". He is a dual nationality of Cameroon and the United States. He is produced by the University of California, Los Angeles. The 7th pick in the second round of the 2008 NBA Draft (37th pick in total) was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks.
As a defensive forward player, Luke Richard Barmot has excellent top-level defensive abilities. He is strong, has fast movement speed, is good at single defense and assisted defense. He can actively fill up positions, steal and interfere with passing in defense. He can defend from No. 1 to No. 4. During his time with the 76ers, he was one of the core members of the "Five Death" defensive system. He is willing to sacrifice data for the team, run actively without the ball, and mainly uses empty cuts, fast breaks and bottom corner three-pointers on the offensive end, and does not occupy the ball rights and is suitable for the core of holding the ball. However, his singles and mid-range shooting are not stable enough, he relies on his teammates to create opportunities on the offensive end, and his independent offensive ability is weak.
In his NBA career in the past 12 seasons, Bamot has played for six teams, namely the Bucks (2008-2013), Kings (2013-2013.11), Timberwolves (2013.11-2014), 76ers (2014-2015), Clippers (2015-2017, 2018-2019.4), and Rockets (2017-2018, 2020). He played in a total of 689 games in the regular season, including 452 starts, averaging 23.3 minutes per game, scoring 6.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.4 blocks. In the playoffs, they played 32 games, starting in 23 games, averaging 24.0 minutes per game, scoring 5.8 points, 3.7 rebounds, 0.7 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.3 blocks. Judging from the data, he is a qualified role player and has also contributed some highlights.
Local time in the United States, on February 3, 2011, in the Milwaukee Bucks lost to the Golden State Warriors 94:100 away, Barmot started for 41 minutes, scored 15 points, 5 assists and 2 steals, and grabbed the highest 19 rebounds in a single game in the NBA career. On March 16, 2012, in the Milwaukee Bucks' away game against the Golden State Warriors 120:98 away, Barmot started for 33 minutes, made 10 of 15 shots, and made 2 of 4 free throws, scoring the highest single-game 22 points in NBA career, plus 17 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals and 1 block.
Bamot has long been committed to hosting free basketball training camps in Africa, providing basketball training for African children, discovering talented children, and helping them obtain scholarships from American schools. He has discovered NBA players such as Joel Embiid and Pascal Siakam in the basketball training camp, and has provided them with a lot of help and guidance for entering the NBA.
In September 2020, due to the impact of injuries, Luke Richard Barmot officially announced his retirement. After his retirement, he continued to work hard to promote the development of African basketball and continued to serve as the organizer of the "Basketball Without Borders" event. He also invested free funds to build a basketball court in his hometown to provide training equipment for the national team, and helped the development of African basketball with practical actions.
