Rick Carlisle updates Walker s NBA Finals injury after Pacers beat the Knicks

Rick Carlisle and the Pacers beat the Knicks Saturday night, but they still have a series to play.

The Indiana Pacers defeated the New York Knicks with a stunning score of 125-108 on Saturday night, successfully advancing to the Eastern Conference and securing a spot in the NBA Finals. While the Pacers have already achieved surprising results in the playoffs, they will focus on winning four more Oklahoma City Thunder to eventually win the NBA championship.

In order to defeat the strongest team in the NBA and create one of the biggest upsets in NBA Finals history, the Pacers need to go all out. Unfortunately, they lost forward Jares Walker in the early part of the fourth quarter of Game 6, and he suffered an ankle injury. Walker's injured right leg could hardly bear any weight, and he was on a cane after the game.

After this victory, head coach Rick Carlisle updated Walker's status through ESPN.

"He's still young, so that's good," Carlisle said. "I didn't watch the replay, so I don't know how much he rolled, how far he rolled, how much weight he took. But when a player fell down and kept going like that, you'll hold your breath." The Pacers did have some rest before the NBA Finals Thursday night in Oklahoma City, so Walker did have some time to rest and recover. The Pacers will also have a few days to take a breath and prepare for the Western Conference strong team to go out.

Walker is not a major contributor to the Pacers, but he can improve Carlisle's roster diversity because he has a strong frontcourt physique while also being a very threatening defensive player. Facing the Thunder, which has the strongest lineup depth in the league, these different lineup choices are crucial for the Pacers. The Thunder had no obvious injury problems themselves and eliminated the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday night, so they had been resting for a full week by the start of the championship series.
