On November 22, according to the famous reporter Siegel, the Los Angeles Lakers plan to sign a two-way contract with free agent insider Drew Timmy.

Currently the Lakers' three two-way contract spots have been occupied by Nick Smith Jr., Christian Koloko and Chris Manon. Siegel learned that Nick Smith Jr. will not be a candidate for elimination, so the team will most likely fire either Coloko or Manon to make room for Timmy.

Drew Timmy had a great record in his college career at Gonzaga University, but unfortunately he was not selected in the 2023 NBA Draft. He spent most of his first two seasons after graduation playing in the NBA Development League. Due to Timmy's outstanding performance on behalf of the Nets' Long Island affiliate team during the 2024-2025 regular season, the Brooklyn Nets signed him to a two-year standard contract at the end of March.

At the end of June, the Nets chose to exercise Timmy's player option worth US$1.955377, but this salary was not guaranteed. Ultimately, the Nets waived him during the preseason. The 25-year-old forward/center played in 9 games for the Nets at the end of last season, averaging 28.2 minutes per game, contributing 12.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists; his shooting percentage, three-point shooting percentage and free throw shooting percentage were 44.1%, 25.7% and 62.5% respectively.

Timmy plays for the South Bay Lakers, the Lakers' G League affiliate team, this season. He was elected the G League Player of the Week last week, averaging 30 points, 7 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.
