On November 15, according to the Portuguese newspaper "Global", Angola held a celebration for the 50th anniversary of its independence, and Angola played a friendly match with Argentina. According to the Angola Medical Emergency Institute, 70 people were injured in serious incidents outside the stadium during the match.

Among the recorded incidents, 23 traumatic incidents stood out, with fans being trampled or falling due to crowding at the entrance. Many of the injuries occurred when fans tried to force their way into the venue, which has a capacity of 50,000 and for which the Angola Football Association provided 48,000 tickets, causing huge pressure in the entrance area.

Another 47 spectators required medical attention due to headaches and high blood pressure symptoms related to the agitation, heat and crowding near the stadium.

Before and during the game, hundreds of fans clashed with the Angolan police, making the atmosphere even more tense. The authorities prevented many fans from entering the stadium on the grounds that they did not have tickets or were carrying prohibited items (such as slippers, briefcases, hats, etc.). The decision angered fans, triggering shoving, insults and chaos, forcing police to close multiple entrances to the stadium over safety concerns. Despite the violent clashes, no arrests were reported.
