Liverpool is reportedly considering introducing Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba in the summer. As journalist Lewis Steele reported on his YouTube channel through Russin Liverpool, the Reds admired the French defender very much.
Steel claims Arne Slott's team has been looking for the 22-year-old last season. The Reds reportedly became interested in the French after missing out on young defenders like Lenny Yoro and Dean Wheelsen. Liverpool quoted Steele as saying:
"Lukeba's performance in Leipzig deserves attention, and it's clear that Liverpool has been paying attention to him. I heard that Liverpool sent scouts in many games in Leipzig this season."
The reporter added:
"He may also be a person worth paying attention to in the process of Liverpool trying to get the best young defender from the market. They missed Yoro, missed Wheelson, maybe they signed Harto, maybe Lukeba."
It is reported that Liverpool was interested in Leni Yoro last summer, but was eventually defeated by Manchester United. Meanwhile, Real Madrid signed Wheelson from Bournemouth this summer.
Lukeba is considered one of the best young centre-backs on the planet and he impressed in Leipzig. He joined the Bundesliga from Lyon for 34 million euros in 2023 and has always been a regular visitor to this Bundesliga giant.
Lukeba is a left-footed central defender with excellent ball control. Although he is only 6 feet tall, his physical fitness is also very advantageous. He has made 72 appearances for Leipzig RB so far and has been compared to former Leipzig star Josco Gwadior, who now plays for Manchester City. Lukeba reportedly has a £74 million termination clause in his contract at Red Bull Arena, with his contract at the club until 2029.
Premier League star Anthony Gordon will be inclined to transfer to Liverpool despite his interest in Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon. Reporter Graeme Bailey claims the 24-year-old is unlikely to transfer this summer, but the British is more likely to join the Reds. Bailey told TBR Football:
"I think one day he might end in Liverpool. Will it be this summer? I'm deeply skeptical about it. But Liverpool is his first choice. I want to say that he is on the roster of other clubs. We know that both Chelsea and Arsenal want to advance to the left. It's no secret, it's the player they like." The famous reporter added:
"But yes, I think it's extremely impossible to get Gordon out of Newcastle. Does Newcastle need to sell teams? Some football clubs recognize It's done for them, which is why we see the situation in Tino Livermento, where Manchester City have been looking for it."
Bailey concluded:
"They think Newcastle has to do something. Newcastle says they don't, but let's see how it goes. It might have to do with our Jolington story. If Newcastle had to sell a big guy, would you sell Jolington to Saudi Arabia?"
Gordon's outstanding performance at Newcastle made him a favorite for the team. He was closely linked to Liverpool last summer, and Arsenal and Chelsea reportedly were among his admirers.
The versatile attacker was in the red half of Merseyside in the early days of his youth. However, he failed to achieve good results in Everton's youth training.
Since joining Newcastle in 2023, Gordon has been one of the most important players in Newcastle. So far, he has made 106 appearances for the Magpie, scoring 22 goals and providing 23 assists.
