November 11th: In an interview with talkSPORT, Everton head coach David Moyes talked about the prospects of his James Garner and Grealish being selected for the England team.
About 24-year-old former Manchester United midfielder James Garner.
"He has been outstanding since I came here. I didn't realize he was so good before."
How did he perform?
"He has been very good, he plays well in the midfield, I have said a few times in the last few times that he is getting closer and closer to being discussed by England because of his performances, he has also played at full-back and he has done a great job for us."
The competition in England's midfield is fierce.
"I think Alex Scott has done a great job at Bournemouth as well and there are a lot of good players in England to choose from."
This makes Tuchel difficult to choose.
"So for Tuchel, it's about picking a team and facing a whole week of talking about Bellingham and Foden...".
What is your final evaluation of Ghana?
"I would say that James Garner is one of the best young midfielders who will have the opportunity to be called up in the future."
Will you admit England can win the 2026 World Cup?
"No way! If I say that, I won't be able to cross the Scottish border!".
What do you think of the strength of the England team?
"I have to say England are very strong, and I think the most difficult thing is probably the playing conditions in the United States, which may have other consequences, and if you don't handle it well in the quarter-finals or semi-finals, you may find yourself... But I think England will go out with the strongest lineup as well as any team in the World Cup."
About Grealish
"He has been very good. He has helped us maintain possession more and our numbers in terms of possession rate have gone up."
Do you have any higher requirements for him?
"His goals are very important, and I have always instilled in him that it is good to be an assister, but it is better to be a shooter."
What does he bring to the team?
"He gave us real strength in the way he played. He and Iliman Ndiaye both played very, very well and probably changed the way we played, we wanted to evolve and get better and both players gave us that opportunity."
About Grealish’s character.
"He is an incredible player who loves his football, he watches and listens, which a lot of modern players don't do that much, but he loves his football and Tuchel will have a very difficult job picking the squad."
