May 1 TheAthletic reported that winning the 20th Premier League title puts Liverpool on an equal footing with Manchester United, ensuring that their income will jump to new heights and making this season the most profitable season in their history.
It is predicted that Liverpool's annual revenue will exceed the £700 million mark for the first time. Manchester City has made £176 million in both of its last two Premier League seasons, and Liverpool may take £180 million and more from the Premier League this season.
Previously reported that Nike's contract with Liverpool is now in its final months, and the US jersey maker will pay an additional £2 million for Liverpool's championship, which is only symbolic given the annual value of the Nike contract (about £60 million per year), but it is a farewell gift before the new deal with Adidas begins in August. Other business partners will also offer small bonuses related to performance, and Liverpool's business revenue will continue to grow, doubling over the past seven years.
In addition to signing a jersey sponsorship agreement with Standard Chartered Bank, an armband advertising sponsorship agreement with Expedia, and a training center naming rights with AXA, Liverpool has also worked with a series of blue-chip companies in the past two years, including UPS, Google, Peloton and Japan Airlines. The £308 million business revenue in the 2023-24 season will inevitably increase again this season.
Although it may be disappointing to be eliminated by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarterfinals, Liverpool's performance in the Champions League has also boosted their fiscal revenue. Nearly perfect performance in the group stage, ranking first among 36 clubs, winning a prize of £85 million. The returns in the previous few seasons are higher, such as finishing second in 2022 with a £102 million, while the returns this year will be much higher than the £23 million last season. The income on match day has never been so high. There are 60,000 spectators in each home game this season. The income on match day last season has exceeded the £100 million mark for the first time and will climb again this season.
Liverpool did not participate in the FIFA Club World Cup held in the United States this summer. Manchester City and Chelsea are two Premier League clubs, and if they can win the trophy, they will receive a £97 million prize.
It is predicted that Liverpool will become the second English club after Manchester City with an annual turnover of more than £700 million. Manchester City may maintain their advantage over Liverpool, especially if the Club World Cup brings a fruitful summer.
Liverpool last ranked eighth in Deloitte's annual assessment of the richest clubs in the world, but with its success on the court this season, Liverpool is likely to be in the top five. Liverpool ranked 12th in the 2012-13 season, which is a measure of the improvement of the Reds' financial strength over the past decade.
