Manchester City veteran Kyle Walker has been allowed to leave the team freely after missing the Club World Cup roster. According to multiple British media reports, the Premier League Everton Club is actively operating and hopes to sign the England international right-back.

Walker, 35, was loaned to Serie A AC Milan in January this year, but returned to Manchester City because the opponent did not choose to initiate a buyout clause. The loss to the Club World Cup lineup marks the basically end of Walker's career at Manchester City, and he needs to find a new boss.

Previously, there was news that the Turkish Super League giant Fenerbahce was interested in Walker, but the well-known transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano recently revealed that Everton has become a strong contender for Walker. Everton coach David Moyes is eager to bring in Walker, and the club has begun negotiations with the players to try to seize the lead in the competition with Fenerbahce. It is reported that Walker himself was open to his move to Türkiye.

However, the Daily Mail pointed out that Walker prefers to stay in the Premier League. This preference puts the swift-moving Everton in the lead in the competition. The core consideration for Walker's choice is his national team prospect. He currently plays 96 times for England, just four games away from the 100-game milestone. Staying in the Premier League will undoubtedly help him achieve this goal and strive to be selected for the World Cup squad next summer.

Walker has only one year left in his contract with Manchester City. Given its age factor, Manchester City is not expected to set too high barriers to transfer fees, and the club would rather take this opportunity to remove its high salary burden. Walker's transfer value is not expected.

In addition, Manchester City has made some moves at the full-back position and signed Nouri from Wolves. Meanwhile, Newcastle United's young right-back Livramento is seen as the ideal candidate to replace Walker. However, Newcastle is aware of Manchester City's interest, but it has made it clear that it has no intention of selling Liframento, whose contract is in 2028, and there is no pressure to deal with its transfer.
