World Sports: Lenglet s departure will save Barcelona about 6.4 million euros pre-tax salary space

June 10, World Sports reported that Barcelona officially announced an agreement with Clement Langley on Monday to terminate his contract for the remaining two seasons early.
The contract was revised last summer, according to the explanations of journalists Javier Gasco and Gabriel Sanz. At that time, Lenglet's contract was extended to the end of the 2025-2026 season, with an annual salary of about 16 million euros (8 million euros after tax), totaling 32 million euros. However, the club and players then agreed to extend the contract for another season, spreading the 32 million euros to pay within three years. This means that Langlet's annual salary has dropped from the original 16 million euros (8 million euros after tax) to 10.6 million euros (about 5.3 million euros after tax). The new contract will expire on June 30, 2027, and Lenglet was loaned to Atletico Madrid in the first year.
This operation provides Barcelona with more salary space, which will help the club reach a 1:1 ratio again under the rules of financial fair competition. The club lost that percentage as La Liga rejected Barcelona's deal to sell the future Camp Nou Stadium box in April this year. Although the termination has no direct economic benefits for Barcelona, the club has benefited from salary costs and amortization. Under the financial control regulations, considering the current situation, Barcelona can obtain 60% of its salary and amortized costs from Lenglet's departure as additional space. Based on the previously mentioned annual salary of 10.6 million euros, Langlet's departure will save Barcelona about 6.4 million euros (before tax) in salary space, totaling 12.8 million euros.
If Lenglet's previous salary accounts for 5% of the team's total salary, he will be regarded as a "franchise player", in which case, by loaning to Atletico Madrid, Barcelona can obtain 70% of the player's salary as additional space. By this calculation, you can save up to 7.4 million euros per season (total of 14.8 million euros). These figures now need to be reviewed by La Liga, and Barcelona will inform the league that Lenglet has gained free agents and has become a new member of Atletico Madrid.
