July 6th News Recently, Cavaliers new player Lonzo Ball said that he was lucky to be here at the Cavaliers and was excited about the upcoming opportunity.

Earlier, Ball said in the What an Experience podcast: "Playing on the court and fighting for the championship is my goal at this stage. So I am very happy to join (the Cavaliers) and start a new journey. Get to know everyone, get familiar with the environment, and do our best to go further."

This summer, Ball was sent from the Bulls to the Cavaliers in a trade, and the Cavaliers sent forward player Isaiah Okoro. Considering that defender Dalius Garland is expected to miss early in the new season due to a toe injury, while Ty Jerome signs for the Memphis Grizzlies, Ball may quickly win a major role in the early stages of the new season.

However, it should be noted that Ball played only 35 games last season and was absent due to a wrist injury. He had previously missed two consecutive seasons due to a mysterious knee injury. For him, this is not only a transaction, but also a "new beginning."

When talking about joining the Cavaliers, Ball said: "To be honest, I think it's really a blessing. Everyone asked me what I think about this deal, and I replied that I'm happy to continue playing, let alone join a team that has a real chance to compete for the championship."

"I have been playing the right basketball style all my life - that's winning, so I feel like I've joined a great environment. I just want to play my role and do my best to help the team."

The Cavaliers achieved 64 wins and 18 losses last season, but lost to the Pacers five games in the second round of the playoffs. If Ball can stay healthy, he will become a point guard who can easily play in high-intensity playoffs. Ball averaged 7.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game last season, shooting 36.6% from the field and 34.4% from three-point shooting.

According to ESPN and other media reports, the Cavaliers have been regarded as one of the hottest favorites of the Eastern Conference champions in 2026.
