Celtics backcourt star: I don t want to put too much pressure on myself, I will insist on being myself

Boston Celtics backcourt star Derrick White recently participated in the podcast "White Noise Podcast", and he also talked about the role he will play in the team in the new season.

White said: As for my role, I don't know what my role will be in each game. I don't want to set a fixed mode for myself either. For example: Oh, I have to do this on the field. Or, oh, Jayson Tatum had to miss the game all season, so I had to do what I had to do and where I needed to replace him. I don't want to put myself in that state of mind. Obviously, I have been training hard and I want to find ways to improve my form and performance. But if I limit myself to that mentality, then I may put too much pressure on myself, and then I may do something that I should not do on the court.

White continued: So what I have to do is continue to be myself, to do the things that make me successful, and then what I used to accomplish before. I don't know what my role will be, but no matter what my role is, my goal is to go on the court to compete and try to help the team win as many games as possible. I'm really excited about being able to get this opportunity because we have a lot of talented players and we have a great coaching staff. In my opinion, our strength is underestimated by many people, so the next season will be a very interesting season. I believe we can also perform to surprise everyone.

In the NBA regular season last season, White played 76 games in the first 82 games, averaging 33.9 minutes per game, averaging 16.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.1 blocks, and 1.7 turnovers and 1.8 fouls, shooting percentage of 44.2%, three-point shooting percentage of 38.4%, and free throw shooting percentage of 83.9%. In the playoffs, White played 11 times in total, with averaging 37.7 minutes per game, averaging 18.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 0.6 steals and 1.1 blocks, and 1.2 turnovers and 2 fouls. His shooting percentage was 46.3%, three-point shooting percentage was 38.5%, and free throw shooting percentage was 86.1%. The Celtics have experienced huge lineup changes this summer, and the team's paper strength has indeed declined significantly compared to last season. In this case, White really needs to play a more important role in the team, and his performance may indeed determine the competitiveness of the Celtics to a large extent. Faced with such a challenge, can White perform convincingly?
