Purchased by the Mavericks 4 years ago! Now lead the team to the finals! The most underrated head coach in the NBA

In NBA history, only six head coaches led two different teams to the Finals, and Carlisle is one of them! After the Pacers reached the finals, all the Mavericks media sent congratulatory messages to Carlisle. Although Carlisle has been away from the Mavericks for four years, Dallas fans and the media still remember his contribution.

Speaking of the NBA Finals that started on June 6, Carlisle was very cautious. He said: "It is not the time to celebrate with champagne. When the playoffs are in progress, the remaining two teams have only one goal, that is, the championship. I understand the importance of the finals, and our work has just begun."

The last time Carlisle led the team to the finals, it can be traced back to 2011. Nowitzki defeated all sides and defeated the Heat in the finals. On June 18, 2021, the Mavericks fired Carlisle. A week later, the Pacers signed Carlisle for 4 years and $29 million. Many people don't know that this is Carlisle's second coaching Pacers.

Today, the leader briefly introduced Carlisle to you: Born on October 27, 1959, he is 1.96 meters tall. In the 1984 NBA Draft, he was selected by the Celtics in the 70th overall pick in the third round. Carlisle wore the Celtics No. 34 jersey and won the championship with the team in the 1985-86 season. His NBA career was only four and a half years.

Carlisle played 188 regular season games in the NBA, averaging only 2.2 points and 1.1 assists per game, an unbiased role player. In the 1989-90 season, 30-year-old Carlisle transformed into an assistant coach of the Nets. He stayed with the Nets for four years, then went to the Trail Blazers and Pacers as assistant coach, and became the Pistons head coach in 2001! In the 2001-02 season, Carlisle led the Pistons to 50 wins and 32 losses, and the Pistons entered the second round of the playoffs for the first time since 1991. Carlisle was the head coach for the first time and was awarded the NBA Coach of the Year. Unfortunately, the Pistons don’t have the patience to wait for him to grow up with the players. In the 2003-04 season, Carlisle left the Pistons and became the Pacers' head coach. In the 2004-05 season, the Pacers had a very strong lineup and had the chance to break out of the East. On November 19, 2004, the "Auben Hill Incident" broke out, Arte was suspended for 73 games, Jackson was suspended for 30 games, and O'Neal Jr. was suspended for 25 games (later reduced to 15 games). Even though the lineup is not complete, Carlisle still leads the team to the second round of the playoffs!

On May 19, 2005, Reggie Miller retired in dismay, and the Pacers became a regret in the hearts of many fans. In April 2007, the Pacers fired Carlisle, and in May 2008 he became the head coach of the Mavericks. When it comes to the Mavericks in 2011, everyone always thinks of Dirk leading the team alone, but ignores Carlisle's role!

Carisle is probably the most underrated tactical master in the NBA. He and Thibodeau are two completely different coaching styles. Carlisle is able to let the role players play their strengths, but Thibodeau doesn't want to give a substitute a chance at all. Since returning to the Pacers in 2021, Carlisle has entered the Eastern Conference Finals twice in four years, and this year it has reached the finals.

In the next finals, I look forward to Carlisle and the Pacers bringing more surprises to fans!
