Fox Sports commentator Paul Pierce walked 20 miles into the studio in a robe after betting on the Knicks’ second game against the Celtics.
If fans need to remind him why it is the "truth", Paul Pierce kept his promise after betting on the Boston Celtics losing a ridiculous game. Hours before the Celtics' second game against the New York Knicks, Pierce was sure his old club would tie the score 1-1. The Fox Sports commentator was so sure the Celtics would win that he said in the live broadcast that if the team lost, he would walk to work the next day.
Boston team eventually lost the game, losing 90-91, and finally losing 0-2 in the series. Despite Pierce's declaration sounding a bit crazy, he kept his promise and set out from home on Thursday and hiked 20 miles to the Fox Sports Studio. He recorded his entire seven-hour journey on Instagram and recorded his last steps on the livestream.
"I am the truth."
Pearce promised in his assurance that he would walk to work barefoot in his robe. Although he looked like he was wearing shoes, he fulfilled his promise of wearing a robe despite the wet weather in Los Angeles. Pierce initially said the distance was 15 miles, but he said in his Instagram video that he actually had to walk 20 miles.
On the way, Pierce was surpassed by former teammate Kevin Garnett. Garnett was surprised to see his old friend, and briefly pulled over, then drove away after a funny exchange. When the two met, Pierce told the former campaign mate that he was "half done." The Celtics performed poorly again, disappointing Paul Pierce
Pierce was confident in the Celtics, and so did other sports people, and Boston ended the game with a double-digit advantage. But like the first game, the team's star players made no achievements on the offensive end, causing the game to fall into a downturn again.
The Celtics' shooting percentage was sluggish in the second consecutive game, with only 36.2% shooting percentage and only 25% from three-pointers. Jason Tatum's performance was equally bad, with only 5 of 19 shots in the game and only 13 points.
Despite the terrible hit rate, Boston still had a chance to win at the end of the game. However, the Knicks beat the Celtics 30-17 in the fourth quarter and staged a reversal at the end of the game, eventually leading by a staggering 2-0. With New York's full control of the game, the series will be moved to Madison Square Garden, where the next two games will be played.
