2024/25 Italian Reserve League Review | Inter Milan and Purple Lily will compete for the final championship

The Serie A season has come to an end, and the reserve team, which represents the highest level of the club's youth team, has come to an end, with only the last game on Friday night remaining.

The Italian Reserve League (Primavera) was born in the 1962/63 season. It is a league for players aged 19 and under and is also the most important club youth event in Italy. Since 2006, the event's championship trophy has been named Giacinto Facchetti in honor of the great Italian left-back Fachetti. Starting this season, the Italian Reserve League has expanded to 20 teams, and the participation age has been changed from 19 years old and under to 20 years old and under.

The reserve team is divided into two stages: the league stage and the knockout stage. The first place in the league stage is not the final team to win the championship. The top six of the league stage will enter the championship play-offs, and the final championship will be decided after three rounds of knockout stages.

The reserve league stage of this season is as follows, Roma and Inter Milan ranked in the top two with 83 points and 74 points respectively, Sassuolo, Fiorentina, Juventus and AC Milan ranked 4th to 6th. These six teams entered the final championship play-offs.

The championship playoffs are divided into three rounds of single knockout matches:

The first two games are from the third place vs sixth place, and 4th place vs fifth place. If the two sides draw in the 90th minute, the team with the highest points in the league will qualify;

In these two games, Fiorentina defeated Juventus 4-1 at home, and Sassuolo defeated AC Milan 3-0 at home.

The second round (semi-finals) consists of the first place in the league vs. the fourth and fifth place winners, the second place vs. the third and sixth place winners. If the two sides draw in the 90 minutes, the team with the highest points in the league qualifies;

In these two games, Roma, the number one in the league, lost 1-2 to Fiorentina at home and was eliminated, while Inter Milan eliminated Sassuolo after a penalty shootout. The finals are also a single game to determine the winner, but if both sides draw within regular time, overtime will be held until the penalty shootout is decided.

The final of the reserve league this season will be between Fiorentina and Inter Milan, and the match will be played on Friday night at the Viola Park Stadium in Florence.

In the relegation play-off, Bologna defeated Empoli 1-0 at home, so that both Empoli's first team and reserve team were relegated this season.

The striker Gabiani from Cremona on the reserve league scorer list this season won the top scorer with 28 goals in 37 games. Gabiani, who is only 18 years old, also contributed 9 assists, and averaged 1 goal per game; Spezia's Coveri ranked second with 20 goals; the third-ranked Fiorentina youth training forward Rubino scored 17 goals, and he has represented Fiorentina in Serie A this season.

Like the first team, the reserve team also has its own cup match. In the final of the reserve team's Cup this season, Cagliari defeated AC Milan 3-0 to win the championship trophy, while AC Milan's first team and reserve team both won the runner-up in the Cup this season.
