On the evening of May 31, 2025, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) swept the Italian powerhouse Inter Milan 5-0 in the UEFA Champions League (Champions League) final held in Munich, Germany, winning the Champions League championship in the club's history for the first time.
This is not only an important breakthrough in the history of PSG, but also a new record for the largest score difference in the Champions League final. After the match, thousands of PSG supporters flocked to the streets of Paris, especially at Piazza Trocardo in front of the Eiffel Tower, lit the torch and celebrate the historic victory.

At the same time, Macron immediately posted a congratulations on social media platform X (formerly Twitter): "Champion, my brother! This is a glorious moment for Paris Saint-Germain! We are all extremely proud to congratulate Paris Grande. Tonight, Paris is the capital of Europe."
Just as the national celebration was held, the celebration atmosphere on the streets of Paris quickly turned into riots. About 5,400 police officers were deployed that night to maintain order, but some excited masses tried to break through the cordon and clashed with law enforcement officers.
Champs Elysees was forced to use tear gas, pepper spray and high-pressure water cannons to disperse the crowd.
Police arrested 131 people, 30 of whom were suspected of breaking into a shoe store on the Champs-Elysées for vandalism and theft, and two cars were set on fire near the Princes Park Stadium.
This historic victory of PSG was supposed to be a time of national carnival, but the riots cast shadows on this glorious night.
As a netizen commented, "The president is sending congratulations, but the police are cleaning up the mess on the streets." The glory of sports is worth celebrating, but civilization and order are equally important.
Passion can be a force of unity, but it must not be out of control.
