Amorin turns Bruno Fernandez from Manchester United s core attacker to defensive loophole

This hidden danger has existed since the beginning of the season. Let us continue the tradition—unfold in the form of a single point of observation.

In the fourth round of the Premier League, Amorin's tactical rift against Guardiola was wonderful. But it should be emphasized that this 0-3 defeat stems from multiple factors and is by no means a single crux of the problem - not only this point described in this article.

But there is a key observation worth noting: Amorin is performing a "shooting the foot" drama by transforming last season's best player into one of the main causes of recent declines.

I am talking about Bruno Fernandez, the man who once carried the team alone. A decisive position adjustment this season changed everything: in the 3-4-2-1 formation, the captain no longer plays in the No. 10 position, but instead plays in the No. 8 position with a defensive midfielder.

Even though Mount and Cunya were injured today, he was still not pushed to the frontcourt. The result can be imagined:

- Offensive influence has dropped sharply;

- Defensive loopholes frequently occur, because in the double midfield configuration under this system, Bruno is not a qualified "No. 8 position" at all.

Take today's decisive goal as an example. Before this, Manchester United's defense was still quite stable. And Bruno:

a) Foden, who did not notice the far end, only focused on the ball and did not intercept it;

b) He did not remind the defender to make up for defense.

Eight minutes later, similar scenes reappeared: Bruno, who was supposed to be close to the guard, let his opponent shoot.

You can also review Fulham's equalizer (analysis in another article), and Bruno once again did not follow the defense to the penalty area or complete the handover.

The conclusion is clear: Bruno should not appear in these defensive positions at all. He lacks the sense of position and defensive skills needed to be an all-around midfielder in the 3-4-2-1 system. His value lies in exerting creativity from a higher level.

Look at Arsenal's winning goal again: Bruno received the ball in his own penalty area (he shouldn't have appeared there!), trying to play a fun game, resulting in a corner kick, and was eventually scored by his opponent.

This is why Amorin's explanation of Kobe Maynu's limited playing time seems far-fetched. He argued on the grounds that Bruno is "more suitable for this position":

"Menu is good at controlling the rhythm, but if he plays at the No. 8 position, he needs to go back and forth, and sometimes he needs a great coverage.

Bruno is competent for this job. Sometimes he is just bad luck. He may be the most influential player in recent years, and he plays this position.

Menu can play at the No. 6 position, but sometimes he immediately jumps forward after passing the ball, which does not conform to the No. 6 position. So we need a midfield balance. "

"Bruno is competent" - is that true?
