Arab media: Former Argentina international Papu Gomez has expired his two-year ban and is expected to make a comeback over the weekend

October 21st According to Argentinian media TN, former Argentina international Papu Gomez finally regained the qualification to participate in professional competitions after being suspended for two years due to doping violations. The penalty was adjudicated by the Spanish Anti-Doping Committee and endorsed by FIFA.

October 20th marks the end of Gomez’s suspension period. The 2022 Qatar World Cup winner will officially return to the game. The 37-year-old is expected to play on behalf of his new club this weekend.

Gomez terminated his contract with Monza in November 2023, when he just learned that he was suspended. The former Atalanta and Sevilla player has been training individually during the lockdown and has trained with a number of Italian Serie B sides in recent months to maintain his fitness.

During the suspension, Gomez signed a contract with the Serie B team Padova until June 2027. He has been training with the team since July, focusing on returning to competitive form and preparing for his upcoming comeback.
