The 42-year-old Spanish goalkeeper Pepe Reina officially announced his retirement and will end his 26-year career this summer. This weekend's Serie A final game, Como's home game against Inter Milan will be the last game of Reina's career, but it is not yet certain whether he has a chance to play.

Reina debuted in the great Lamacia youth training camp. He joined Barcelona B in 1999 and started playing in the professional league. A year later, he became the main player of the first team, but failed to hold the throne of No. 1 goalkeeper and joined Villarreal in the summer of 2002. In addition, Reina has also played for Liverpool, Naples, Bayern, AC Milan, Aston Villa, Lazio, Cuomo and other teams.

For Renner, the most glorious period of his career belonged to the Liverpool era. In the summer of 2005, Liverpool spent 9.8 million euros to bring Reina to Anfield because of the Champions League hero Dudek joining Real Madrid. Throughout his career, Renner has played for Liverpool for eight years, making 394 appearances, helping Liverpool win a FA Cup, a League Cup, a European Super Cup and a Community Shield Cup.

Also during his time at Liverpool, Renner achieved great achievements in the Spanish national team. He won two European Cups in 2008 and 2012 with the team, and won the Hercules Cup in 2010. In the Spanish national team at that time, although Reina was not the No. 1 goalkeeper, he was one of the most popular players in the Spanish national team's locker room and was called the team's pistachio. In his national team career, Reina played 36 games for Spain and completed 21 clean sheets.

Last summer, 42-year-old Renner joined Como as a free agent. He has played 12 games for Como so far this season, proving that he can still fight. However, after New Year's Day 2025, Reina never failed to play again, which made it realize it was time to say goodbye.

26 years of long career, playing in top leagues such as the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A and Bundesliga, playing in a total of 910 games, and completing 350 clean sheets, winning 9 championship trophys including one World Cup and two European Cup championships. It is reported that Reiner hopes to become a coach after retirement. I wish him good luck in the future!
