First signing tree! 74 million! Manchester United installment payment

11:15pm, 20 May 2025Football

Authoritative news from multiple parties shows that Manchester United's transaction to sign Wolves' top thigh Mattus Cunnia can basically be put down.

First, Romano updates: "Manchester United is about to finalize Cunha's transfer. Cunha has accepted the club's planning. The personal terms agreement has now entered the final finalization stage and is close to completion. All parties are sorting out the final details... and then here we go!"

Sky Sports News confirmed that Manchester United is expected to activate the termination clause worth 62.5 million pounds (74.28 million euros) in the contract between Cunha and Wolves, and the players will join this summer.

Romano follows up further this afternoon: Manchester United will discuss installment payment with Wolves, and Cunha has agreed to join.

Romano wrote: "About Cunya's transfer, Manchester United will contact Wolves to try to pay a 62.5 million pounds termination clause in installments."

"As disclosed yesterday, the player-level transaction has been basically reached, and the final details are being checked, and Cunya has agreed to join Manchester United."

TA source said that the deal is expected to reach an agreement when the transfer window opens on June 1. Wolves are expected to accept installments, with transfer fees paid in three installments (the first fee is paid when signing, and equal amounts are paid for each in the next two years). However, it is not clear whether Manchester United will try to negotiate more favorable payment terms.

This season, the 25-year-old Brazilian all-rounder played 31 Premier League games for Wolves, scoring 15 goals and assisting 6 times. He is the number one hero of Wolves' relegation. The player's current value is 55 million euros.

TA: Manchester United also promotes Drapp transactions, "The Athletic" reported that Manchester United executives have contacted Ipswich for face-to-face talks on the transfer of local center Liam Drapp.

Ipswich was relegated early, and 22-year-old Drapp received a transfer permit. He and his family have visited Old Trafford in Manchester, and also contacted clubs such as Chelsea.

Drapp is expected to hold substantial negotiations with all potential next players before deciding where he will go. This season, he scored 12 goals in 36 Premier League games and sent two assists. It is not easy to score double goals in his first season, at least not one in Manchester United now.

Due to the relegation of Yizhen, the termination clause (£30 million) in Drapp's contract, which joined from Manchester City last year, will be triggered this summer.

TA pointed out that no matter what the result of the Europa League final with Tottenham, Manchester United has the financial resources to complete the deal to sign Cunha and Delapp. The club has also considered other forward options, including Mbeoumo of Brentford, Dzekelish of Portugal Sports and Osmeen of Naples.

There is a feeling that in recent years, Manchester United's real powerhouses have been focusing on crying for poverty and selling misery in public, saying that they can't live a life and are about to go bankrupt.

But in the transfer market, spending money is still a very luxurious and generous style.

Note, I'm not saying that Cunha's 74 million euros is expensive, I'm just thinking, if time can be reversed, Manchester United signs Sancho for 85 million euros, Anthony for 95 million euros, Casemiro for 70.7 million euros, Hoylen for 77.8 million euros, Mount for 64.2 million euros, and Ronaldo for 62 million euros...

I can't really place orders at the above prices, and it's really impossible to lower the price anymore. Will the seller leave after a penny? There are definitely not many clubs richer than Manchester United on this earth. But besides Manchester United, I'm afraid there is really no second club, which is as low as Manchester United's cost-effectiveness.
