June 12, according to the Italian tuttoatalanta website, Atlanta intends to buy out the Ivorian defender Cosonu who they loaned from Leverkusen last summer, but hopes that Leverkusen will cut the price.
Cosonu is 24 years old and has been selected for the Ivory Coast national team many times. He made 23 appearances for Atlanta in the 24-25 season (the injury affected his playing time during this period) and has two assists.
Atlanta hopes to keep Kosonu, but they believe that the 20 million euro buyout price in the original loan contract is too high. Considering that the contract for loan to Kosonu cannot be extended (the player's contract with Leverkusen expires in 2026), Atlanta is negotiating with Leverkusen to reduce the amount of Kosonu's buyout, and the relevant negotiations have officially started.
