33-year-old Lamela has reached a settlement agreement with Greek team Athens AEK in the past few hours. He is about to terminate his contract with AEK at the Athens.
He intends to announce his retirement directly after the contract is terminated and join the coaching staff of Sevilla's current head coach, Argentine Mathias Almeida. And Almeida was the head coach of AEK at Athens last season.
Lamela played 31 games for Athens AEK in various competitions last season, contributing 6 goals and 3 assists.
