As we all know, the Turkish women's volleyball giant Galatasaray ended with the fourth place in the league in the 2024-2025 season. Although he failed to reach the final, the team's fighting spirit in the competition with Fenerbahce women's volleyball team has won wide praise from the outside world. After the season, Galatasaray quickly launched a lineup reconstruction plan and vowed to build a more competitive team in the new season.

In the coaching staff, Galatasaray in the new season took the lead in confirming that Italian coach Massimo Barbolini took over as the head coach, showing the team's determination to pursue a high-level competitive state. In terms of players, the team currently retains main players including Ilkin Aydın, Alexia Carutasu, Britt Bongaerts, and renews its contract with rising star backbone Yasemin Guveli and Aycin Akyol.

In order to strengthen the offensive line, the club is looking for a strong main attacker with the ability to make a final decision, and the first choice is directly aimed at Li Yingying, the ace main attacker from the Chinese women's volleyball team.

Galatasaray's vice chairman Mehmet Cibara made it clear in an interview with the media: "We really hope to introduce Chinese star Li Yingying. She is our first choice foreign aid. If she cannot join, we will consider other substitutes." As the current core of the Chinese women's volleyball team's offensive, Li Yingying has long become a foreign aid target that attracts global attention with her stable scoring ability, superb skills and competition performance. On the evening of May 20, according to the latest news released by Galatasaray, Li Yingying herself still tends to stay in China. Although the Turkish League is very interested in her joining, Li Yingying does not want to leave China and currently has no intention of playing abroad.

Against the backdrop of Li Yingying's weak willingness to study abroad, Galatasaray women's volleyball team announced that it re-shot the Dominican attacker Yonkaira Pena. This main attacker born in 1993, played for the Bursa Municipal Sports Club in Turkey as early as 2014-2015. He is no stranger to the Turkish Super League. Since 2022, Pena has been playing for the Brazilian powerhouse Minas Women's Volleyball Team, played steadily in the Brazilian Super League and has accumulated rich international competition experience. Although Pena, 32, is not a player in the "year of playing" like Li Yingying, with her rich competition experience, strong breakthrough ability and mature game temperament, she is still a safe choice for many teams in key positions. At present, Galatasaray has not officially announced whether to sign Pena, but the team announced that it has turned to negotiations with the player and she has become the preferred replacement. If Pena's joining comes true, it will mean that the team's reconstruction strategy will shift from pursuing "top explosion" to "stable and practical". This is a pragmatic but slightly regrettable adjustment for Galatasaray, who is determined to compete with strong teams such as Fenerbahce, Vakif Bank, and Isachibashi.

The Turkish Women's Volleyball Super League is about to start a new round of giants. Whether Galatasaray can grasp the key reinforcement points during this transfer period is directly related to the team's new season's pattern positioning. Li Yingying's lack of willingness to stay abroad has made many fans regret, but Pena's return may become a new fulcrum for the team.
