Liverpool has a transfer ace, and has confirmed "Mohamed Salah successor"

11:02am, 8 September 2025Football

Succession plan has been deeply engraved in the hearts of Liverpool's management, who reportedly used Bayern Munich's Michael Olisse as the ultimate alternative target for Mohamed Salah. Liverpool may also have a trick to ensure the deal goes smoothly next year: their good relationship with Bayern.

After three seasons at Crystal Palace, Olisse joined Bayern for an initial transfer fee of £45 million in the summer of July 2024. The transfer has attracted widespread attention, and the 23-year-old has also attracted the interest of several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United.

While his career has progressed better elsewhere, Liverpool is now actively looking for opportunities to bring Olisse back to England next summer, according to the Daily Mail. If Arn Slott and Liverpool's management decide to be interested in them, their deep relationship with Bayern could be a key factor in the smooth negotiations of the right winger.

Anfield's team has worked with Bayern in several trades in recent years, strengthening their close relationship. The two clubs have reached deals for five players over the past 11 years.

Since 2014, Liverpool has sold three players to German teams, including Pepe Reiner, Sadio Mane and most recently Luis Diaz, who have all moved from Merseyside to Bavaria. Liverpool brought Ryan Gravenbergh from the Bundesliga team in 2023 and Thiago Alcantara from them three years ago.

Before these deals, Liverpool bought Marcus Babel and Alo Dillara from the German giants in 2000 and 2002 respectively. For Liverpool's next Red Devils, the temptation of easy negotiations will be huge. Their complex pursuit of Newcastle's Alexander Isaac throughout the summer.

Liverpool failed to successfully introduce Crystal Palace captain Mark Guysi after a long negotiation in the summer, which may also bother Liverpool in future transfer deals. There is no doubt that Salah still maintains a high level of performance while he is older. The Egyptian star scored 34 goals last year, helping Liverpool win the 20th top league title and won the PFA Player of the Year, becoming the first player in history to win the award three times, before he also won the honor in 2018 and 2022. However, Salah is 33 years old and Liverpool also seems to be adjusting its strategy to start building a younger frontline as they signed 25-year-old Isaac, 22-year-old Florian Werz and 23-year-old Hugo Ekitic this summer.

It seems that Olisse has also become Liverpool's target for some time. Former Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp once revealed in the 2021/22 season that he was inspecting the Frenchman at the time.

Klopp claimed he watched Olisse's 0-0 game against Manchester City for 65 minutes, due to "analyzing the reasons." However, Olisse was substituted at Selhurst Park in the 65th minute, which made his focus quite obvious.

Liverpool is now focusing on the club's long-term health in every aspect of the stadium. Italian centre-back Giovanni Leoni, 18, joined from Parma for £26m this summer, and the club's pursuit of Crystal Palace star Guehi also shows that they are considering life outside club captain Virgil van Dijk (34).

New Agent Milos Kerketer, 21, replaced 31-year-old left-back Andy Robertson in the starting lineup. Georgian goalkeeper George Mamadashvili, 24, from Valencia, is now trying to compete with 32-year-old Alison Becker to become the club's top goalkeeper.

Salah joined Liverpool from Roma in 2017 and is currently the third largest scorer in club history, scoring a total of 246 goals. He signed a new two-year contract in April. The 33-year-old tied for fourth place with Andy Cole in the Premier League all-time scorer list, scoring 187 goals and ranked tenth with 88 assists.

His relentless efforts to put these tables to the highest position may prevent Liverpool from changing him in a short time. However, Olisse has played two games and scored three goals this season, and has scored 24 goals and assisted 23 times in Serie A, and he may be a suitable successor to continue the Egyptian legacy.
