According to Mirror News on November 12, Manchester United is expected to raise 120 million pounds by selling five players to sign Forest midfielder Elliott Anderson.
Manchester United has set its sights on Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliott Anderson. The 23-year-old has become a key signing target for Amorim as they look to strengthen their midfield.
Anderson moved to Nottingham Forest from Newcastle United for a high price of 35 million pounds last summer. In his first season with Forest, he made 42 appearances in all competitions and played a key role in helping Forest finish seventh in the Premier League and reach the FA Cup semi-finals.
Although Nottingham Forest had a poor start to the 2025-26 season, Anderson's performance has been very good. With his outstanding performance in the Forest team, he was selected for the England team for the first time in August and performed well in 4 games against Andorra, Serbia, Wales and Latvia.
On Sunday, Anderson scored his first goal of the season in a crucial game against Leeds United, helping Forest win 3-1. According to the "Mirror", Manchester United has expressed strong interest in Anderson.
Nottingham Forest has learned that Manchester United is interested in pursuing the star, but it is expected that they will ask for a transfer fee of at least 100 million pounds, and may even be close to 120 million pounds. If Manchester United can sign Anderson for this price or more, it will break the club's current transfer fee record of £89 million held by Pogba.
In order to raise this huge amount of money, Manchester United may need to sell some players. Rashford is currently one of the players most likely to be sold by Manchester United. The 28-year-old forward joined Barcelona on loan this summer and performed well, scoring 6 goals and assisting 9 in all competitions. Barcelona have the right to buy him out for £26 million at the end of the loan period.
Another potential sale target is Hoylen. The Danish striker has scored four goals in 10 games since joining Napoli on loan in August, and Napoli have the option to buy him permanently for £38 million next summer.
Sancho is the third Manchester United player currently on loan. He was loaned to Aston Villa this summer. Sancho's future at Old Trafford appears uncertain despite Villa not having a buyout option. He is valued at £20m and selling him may be the best option.
Onana is currently on loan to Turkish team Trabzonspor. Although Manchester United introduced the 29-year-old Cameroon international goalkeeper from Inter Milan for 47.5 million pounds in 2023, his current valuation is about 26 million pounds, and Manchester United may sell him for about 15 million pounds.
The sale of Rashford, Hoylen, Sancho and Onana may bring Manchester United at least 85 million pounds in funds, which means that Manchester United only need to raise a small amount of funds to afford Anderson's transfer fee. However, United can further strengthen their squad by offloading other valuable players.
Menu is another player who may be sold. The 20-year-old has played just 138 minutes in the Premier League this season, raising concerns about his future, with the likes of Chelsea expressing interest. Menu is valued at around £45m, and although that price seems low for his age and potential, United may need to sell him to make room for Anderson.
