November 25th Swansea City officially announced that the 37-year-old Portuguese coach Vitor Matos has officially coached the team, and the two parties have signed a long-term contract until 2029. He will take over immediately and take direct command of Tuesday's game against Derby County.
It is understood that the reason why Swansea finally selected Matos among many interviewers was because of the complete set of high-intensity, pass-and-control-oriented tactical system he brought.
CEO Tom Gorringe described him as an absolute "leader."
Matos’s most eye-catching resume is his five years at Liverpool. As the right-hand man of Klopp and Pep Lijnders, he played the role of a "tactical bridge" connecting the youth training and the first team. He personally guided and trained a number of Red Army players such as Elliott, Curtis Jones, Neco Williams, Sepp van den Berg and Kwansa. Before joining Swansea, he led Maritimo to the upper reaches of the Portuguese Liga.
