September 7 News Recently, former Tottenham Hotspur player and assistant coach Poyette revealed that he had been fired by Levi at 10:30 the night before the game.
As a player, Poyette played for Tottenham from 2001 to 2004 and helped the team beat the Blues in the League Cup final to win the championship; Poyette spent a year as an assistant coach for Juande Ramos from October 2007 to 2008, but was fired by Levi after only 2 points in eight Premier League games.
Poyette revealed in an interview with Oddspedia that Levi fired him and Juander Ramos at 10:30 p.m. the next night, and then hired Harry Redknapp.
Poyette said: "My relationship (with Levi) is professional and very respectful. We have no problems. He was very honest with me from the first day to the last day."
"The way we left was a little weird. We were fired the night before the game. We were in the hotel. We were ready to go to bed, the next day, and then called downstairs after 10 o'clock and told we were leaving."
"It felt quite strange to leave that hotel at 10:30 pm. It meant that he was ruthless, really ruthless. When I left the hotel with my luggage, I felt miserable. I should have thought about tomorrow and went home. It was weird."
"If it was after the game ended on Monday morning, you got a call from the chairman and you would think, oh, oh, oh... maybe we would have been fired. But you got the call in the room. You would think, oh, what happened, you Know, maybe the game was cancelled, or something happened, but you would never think of being fired at the hotel the night before the game. "
Speaking of the future of Tottenham without Levi, Poyette said: "Real Tottenham fans, those who go to the new stadium every two weeks, they know what Levi has done for the club. They complain and try to change the chairman. I think they know deep down that he does something amazing."
" When you go to the best stadium in the country, you have to be proud. When your players train at one of the best training grounds in the world, you have to be proud. So there are a lot of things that have been done and you have to give him trust."
" Let's give the new management two or three years to see if they can really achieve what the fans think Levi hasn't done. So I'll say to the fans, thank him for everything he did and keep moving forward. That's all."
