The Red Army abandoned its general and became a Serie A iron bench! He only played 165 minutes in the season and faced returns in the winter window.

This summer, Liverpool made a big purchase in the transfer market. On the offensive end, they bought strong players such as Isaac, Wirtz, and Ekitic, and on the defensive line, they also introduced new players such as Frimpong, Kyle Ketz, and Leoni. With the arrival of these new players, rotation players such as Elliott, Tsimikas, Quaansa, and Kelleher were all purged and left the team.

Among them, the 29-year-old Greek left-back Tsimikas was loaned to Roma to play. But in Serie A, the older full-back has not adapted. He has only made two Serie A starts so far this season and has played only 165 minutes. Now that the winter window is approaching, Tsimikas faces the risk of being returned by Roma.

According to Italian media reports, Roma is very fortunate that it did not include a mandatory buyout clause when Tsimikas joined the team on loan. Tsimikas joined Roma on loan at the end of August, but his Serie A journey did not get off to an ideal start. The Greek international made just two starts in Serie A. He was substituted at halftime in one game and did not play the full 70 minutes in the other.

Roma adopts a 3-4-3 formation in Serie A. Tsimikas was asked to serve as left-back, but the first choice for this position is former Manchester City player Angelinho. Angelinho has missed the last few games due to illness, and coach Gasperini would rather let Wesley, who was originally a right-back, play a guest role on the left than use Tsimikas. In the past 7 games, Tsimikas has been on the bench in 4 games and has not had a chance to play.

As the winter window approaches, Roma has considered introducing new players at the left-back position. Pisa's 22-year-old Italian left-back Angori has therefore entered their recruitment horizons. Tsimikas faces the risk of being returned by Roma. The 29-year-old Tsimikas joined Liverpool in the summer of 2020 for a transfer fee of 13 million euros. He has been serving as Robertson's substitute in the team. After 5 seasons, Tsimikas played 115 times and provided 18 assists, and his performance was quite satisfactory.

If Roma withdraws Tsimikas on loan in the winter window, it will not be bad news for Liverpool. Robertson has reoccupied Liverpool's starting left-back position due to poor integration of new signing Kyle Katz. After Tsimikas returns, he can fully assume Robertson's substitute position.

It is worth mentioning that Tsimikas is not the only Liverpool loan player who has performed poorly this season: Elliott also struggled at Aston Villa. Elliott's loan contract contains a mandatory buyout clause. Villa must sign him permanently after meeting a certain number of appearances (10 games), but it currently seems almost impossible for this clause to be triggered. He has only played 5 times so far, and there is also the possibility of returning to Liverpool in the winter window.
