On July 31, the FA officially issued an announcement that the Independent Commission ruled that the allegation of West Ham United midfielder Paqueta being suspected of deliberately yellowing and making profits in betting was not established. After nearly two years of investigation, Paqueta has finally cleared the suspicion of gambling.
In the summer window of 2023, West Ham United had agreed to sell Paqueta to Manchester City for a transfer fee of 85 million pounds, but the transfer broke down due to the FA's investigation.
In May 2024, the FA officially accused Paqueta of suspected intentional yellowing and making profits, which was affected by the accusation. In the following season, Paqueta's form plummeted and his value dropped from 65 million euros to 28 million euros.
