May 12th reported that Mbappe was the first Real Madrid player to wear a hat in La Liga since 1943 but lose.
In last night's national derby, Mbappe has tried his best to try to help Real Madrid snatch the suspense of the league championship. Real Madrid's three goals against Barcelona all came from his feet, and almost all the excellent opportunities created by the team were also created by him. However, despite completing the 22nd career and the third hat trick in Real Madrid's jersey, the Galaxy still had to swallow the defeat and watched the La Liga championship trophy fall.
In Real Madrid's history, it is extremely rare for players to score hat tricks but fail to win. In fact, among Real Madrid players' 198 La Liga hat tricks, Mbappe's miserable experience was only the fourth time in team history. The last time was 81 years ago on October 3, 1943. Sabino Barinaga scored three goals alone against Sevilla, and Real Madrid lost 3-5.
The first defeat of Real Madrid players "wearing hats but losing" can be traced back to the last season before the Civil War. On March 15, 1936, Real Madrid lost to Athletic 3-4 away, and Hungarian player Vermosh Kellemón, who scored three goals for the team, became the tragic protagonist. The Budapest-born scorer has only played for Real Madrid this season, scoring three of 10 goals, including another hat-trick in a 6-0 home victory over Espanyol, two of which came from penalty kicks.
The second time happened on February 9, 1941, and Sevilla once again became the protagonist of the reversal. This time Chus Alonso made a hat trick, but Real Madrid finally suffered a 4-5 hatred.
If all the events are included, the last time Real Madrid suffered a hat-trick defeat was the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals on April 23, 2003. Ronaldo scored a hat-trick at Old Trafford, and Real Madrid still lost 3-4, but they advanced to the semi-finals with their overall score advantage.
