May 8th Leverkusen attacker Werz recently accepted an interview with the German version of Sports Illustrated, in which he talked about topics such as his personal leadership role on and off the court, his ideas about his future, and his attitude towards money.

-About his leadership role on and off the court:

Wilz: "I would say that over the past few years I have become one of the leading players on our team. I believe my teammates appreciate me very much and know that I am willing to take responsibility. This starts with the fact that I always want the ball to find a solution to the situation. And since this season, I have taken penalty kicks, which has contributed. After all, everyone wants me to hit every time - and that's the pressure I'm willing to take."

"Off the court, I'm not the kind of person who yells at my teammates or always speaks in the locker room. But everyone knows that they can always rely on me. I wish I could continue to grow in this leadership role."

-Off In the close relationship between myself and my family:

Wilz: "My family has always been very important to me, and they have always supported me. My parents encouraged me and my sister to pursue our dreams and help us in the process. Although I have a lot of freedom, they will pay attention to things like not letting me stay at a friend's house for too long or have too many visits before the game, although I didn't always understand it at that time."

"They taught me a lifestyle that is good for me and taught me not to ignore my studies. My parents have made great contributions to me becoming a professional football player. They come every game, and my mom even trains every time. I am really lucky to have such a family."

-For myself The question of whether to be a great player outside of a familiar environment:

Wilz: "I'm really lucky to have so many great clubs at my doorstep, and I can play for one of the best clubs in Germany and Europe. I'm full of respect for these teammates from our Leverkusen who are from South America or Africa who leave their family and familiar environment for their careers."

"One day I'll get out of my comfort zone and experience something new, which attracts me anyway. I'm familiar enough with the football locker room and I believe I can fit in quickly wherever I'm here."

-About how to deal with money:

Wilz: "When I moved from Cologne to Leverkusen, I didn't have a second Having considered salary, I only considered whether this is the best choice for my career. I don’t pay attention to how much money I have in my account or how much money I can make in the future. Of course, it is necessary to make sure to get a good contract. But for me, the prospects in competitive situations are much more important than money. "

"I also believe that if I pay too much attention to money, my parents will be angry. After I transferred to Leverkusen at the age of 16, my parents managed my salary and transferred me 150 euros a month. This has shape me. My parents care that I don’t want to do anything ridiculous with my salary."

Recently, German media reported that Werz had told the pharmaceutical company that he only wanted to go to Bayern if he transfers this summer, and teams that he was interested in include Manchester City and Real Madrid. The contract between Werz and the pharmaceutical factory is until 2027.
