Durant says the Suns no longer have championship expectations since he left

According to US sports media F/W analyst Chaitanya Dadwal, Durant is unstintingly outspoken to his fans. After being traded to the Rockets and the start of the preseason, Durant became a target among Suns fans who seemed to enjoy the aftermath of his move. The Rockets superstar decided to return some harsh words to them as he essentially admitted on social media that the Suns are no longer a championship contender since his departure.
A social media user targeted Durant after a video of the Suns' backup celebration went viral. On the front of the post, the user thanked Durant, claiming the Suns won the trade by getting rid of the superstar. That didn't sit well with the 37-year-old NBA superstar, who deftly shut him down with cold kindness. "No expectations = better atmosphere. Enjoy the season, bro," Durant wrote on the X after a Suns fan with the username "@ssyriek" tagged Durant in the video.
The Suns are widely considered to be one of the weakest teams in the league. So, Durant seemed to be pointing out, the atmosphere was lighter now that there were no expectations on the Suns' shoulders. While Suns players may not agree with his sentiments, the Rockets forward appears to have a harsh take on his sentiments.
Durant knows NBA history will probably remember him as a "selfish bastard."
Durant took further flak from Suns fans, this time, from those unhappy with Durant's decision to leave. One user on X claimed that Durant failed miserably in meeting the team's expectations of him. "You didn't perform well and live up to the expectations of us Suns fans, KD. You screwed up the Suns franchise horribly. I'm going to enjoy watching you fail this season and see you become irrelevant in the years to come. History will remember you as a selfish jerk, KD," the frustrated fan wrote on X . "I know, man, there are better days ahead," Durant responded, seemingly trying to redefine the Rockets' image.
One of the major criticisms Durant faced during his career was that he could never win a championship without a superteam. Every team he's played for since leaving the Thunder in 2016 has been something of a superteam. But the Rockets are not a super team. In addition to Durant, they only have one young All-Star player, Alperon Sengun. Therefore, he has the opportunity to redefine his career and help a team that has not been to the NBA Finals since 1995 win the first championship of this century.
Last season, Durant averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game for the Suns last season, shooting 43% from beyond the three-point line. The 37-year-old is still an All-NBA caliber player who can lead a strong team like the Rockets to a championship. Do you think a Rockets championship can redefine Durant's achievements? Tell me what you think.
