May 18th 30 years ago today, Grant Hill and Jason Kidd shared the Rookie of the Year award.
In the final vote, both of them received 40.95% of the vote in ROY's vote and joined hands to be the best rookie. This is the second time in NBA history that this award was shared, the first time was Coins and Petri in the 1970-1971 season, and the other time was Francis and Brand in the 1999-2000 season.
In the rookie season, Hill averaged 19.9 points, 6.4 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.8 steals per game with the Pistons, and was elected as the All-Star vote leader in the rookie season; Kidd averaged 11.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, 7.7 assists and 1.9 steals per game, helping the team win 26 more games than the previous season.
