Wade shares what he learned when he switches to the commentary seat, looking forward to the new role of NBA commentary on Amazon platform

This fall, Wade's commentary career will continue, and he will take on a new role in a "all-star team."

Wade is excited to join a brand new "All-Star Lineup" team to help Amazon start cooperation with the NBA.

When Prime Video kicks off its first NBA season in October, the basketball Hall of Fame member will serve as live commentator and studio analytics guest. He joined the NBA on Prime's lineup of event analysts, including his old friend Udonis Haslem; Steve Nash and Dirk Nowitzki, who are also a member of the basketball Hall of Fame; and women's basketball legend Candice Parker.

"When you retire, you are no longer part of the team. You are no longer in the locker room like that. So this (new role) will be great," Wade said of his role on the NBA on Prime team.

Wade looks forward to communicating with other former professional players on the show, including opponents he has faced on the court and contenders who have "fighted side by side" with him in the NBA. The three-time NBA champion is also eager to comment on the game on the sidelines, just like he did for NBC at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

"I like that natural reaction that can represent the mindset of the audience in a sense, being able to lead them into the competition with an understanding of the competition, so that they understand what they are about to see or are looking at," he explained.

"Noah Eagle and I worked very happily at the Olympics, so I want to continue like this. These things make me excited."

Wade said that his experience of commentary competitions at the 2024 Paris Olympics helped him grow into a commentator.)

Wade partnered with Noah Eagle to explain the American Men's Basketball Games at the Paris Olympics. Noah is the son of senior sports commentator Ian Eagle, who has been appointed one of the live commentators for the NBA on Prime.

Wade recently served as a guest co-host of the program "TODAY with Jenna & Friends" (click the blue link to view related content: [Documentary] How is the experience of being a co-host of a talk show? Wade fully demonstrated it), and previously worked as a studio analyst for TNT before working at the Olympics. He praised Noah Eagle as an excellent commentary partner and said the latter “takes the main commentary task.”

He also added that some of the lessons learned from the Olympic commentary experience can be applied to his new job at Prime Video.

"When I first sat next to Noah, I didn't understand how to explain what was happening in a 15-second commentary clip. I can't over-explanate, I can't give too much information, and I can't steal the words," he said. "Sometimes we may say a lot of basketball terms, and fans may not understand what that means, because we are talking about things in the locker room. So, express it so that everyone can understand it."

Wade also emphasized the "power of silence": allowing the audience to listen and feel the voices and the atmosphere of the crowd without the interference of the commentator's words.

Similar to other players who have transformed into analysts, Wade's attitude towards the job is simple.

"People want to hear how you view the game, how you play, how you prepare for it. Tell them stories. Give them little inside information they long to know. So, I just try to find these moments that can provide inside information in the locker room, inside information on the road trip, inside information when players gather to discuss."
