Westbrook was ridiculed!
Nuggets Miroslav tweeted: "It's July 21, and no NBA team has signed Westbrook yet, which is simply outrageous. Those teams who deliberately play bad things don't want Westbrook because they think there will be too many games with him. This is simply ridiculous."
Westbrook played 75 games in the Nuggets last season, averaging 13.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 1.4 steals per game in 27.9 minutes, and averaged 24.1 points, 11.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game in the playoffs, with a shooting percentage of 39.1%.
The Nuggets were in a turmoil last season, and Westbrook was promoted to the starter in the middle of the season. He performed very well with Jokic and was rejuvenated for the second spring. In the first round of the playoffs, he scored in double digits in every game. Westbrook is more than enough to play as a substitute now.
Westbrook shouldn't have been absolutely necessary and shouldn't have rejected the team options for next season. To make a decision later, the Nuggets traded Porter Jr., with full room to execute Westbrook's $3.47 million contract next season.
Westbrook will not cooperate with the team to play badly like Russell. He works hard when he comes on the court and is full of passion, which can drive the atmosphere in one go. Many teams who play badly dare not want it. The championship teams are already full, and there is no place for Westbrook to live. Westbrook is not considering rejecting the contract.
