What s the situation? The 71-pointer in a single game joins the Lakers? It s a good thing for Doncic, but a bad thing for Reeves

9:54pm, 15 July 2025Basketball

Since joining the Lakers, Doncic has made 28 appearances in total for 984 minutes. There are two points that must be mentioned about the data.

Explanation point 1: Ball rights. In these 28 games, Doncic's round usage rate was 34.5%, second only to Paul Bancello and Alexander during the same period, and ranked first in the Lakers.

Explanation point 2: Importance. When Doncic was on the court, the Lakers had a net loss of 8.4 points in a hundred rounds, ranking first in the team; when not on the court, the team had a net loss of 4.5 points in a hundred rounds, ranking first in the team.

To sum up two points, the Lakers have set Doncic as the core of decision. Of course, the importance reflected by the latter can also bear the "absolute core".

There is a small episode here:

1. The round usage rate of the All-Star Pre-Reeves is 22.6%;

2. The All-Star Post-Star Value is 23.5%.

In other words, even if the Lakers complete the absolute core conversion, this did not affect Reeves' ball rights, and it even said that it has not fallen but rose. From another perspective, Reeves' ball holding may continue to improve in the new season - Reeves' shooting rate in 24-25 - top Durant 49.4%, sub-top Booker 43.4%, and All-Star Ingram 40.4%.

However, the plan cannot keep up with the changes.

According to the NBA China official website, Lillard has passed the clarification period and has become a full free agent for the first time in his career.

Subsequently, according to NBA famous reporter Sam Amico: Lillard's next club includes the Clippers, Celtics, Knicks and other teams, but we cannot ignore the Lakers. Subtext, it is not impossible for Lillard to join the Lakers.

Description point: record. In the game against the Rockets on February 26, 23, Lillard made 22 of 38 shots and 13 of 22 three-pointers to score a career-high of 71 points. Jordan has never done the feat of 70+ in a single game.

24-25 Lillard passed a total of 3482 passes and sent 410 assists, ranking 23rd in the league in assists alone. More importantly, after receiving the pass from Lillard, the Bucks completed 15 shots, of which only AJ Green, Trent Jr. and Kuzma had a shooting rate of less than 40%. In other words, Lillard's pass also has a bonus effect on his teammate's shooting.

Obviously, it would be a good thing if the Lakers could get Lillard against Doncic. To be precise, it can play a role in sharing the pressure of series. However, I don't think it's a good thing for Reeves.

Reason 1: Opportunity. Regardless of which team he joins, it is foreseeable that Lillard will be promised with plenty of opportunities. After all, we have to fight for the next contract.

Reason 2: Team status. No matter which team you join, Lillard will definitely not be willing to be a role player. In other words, whether it is a basic salary or a mini middle class, Lillard is still the core positioning.

To sum up two points, Lillard's arrival will "snatch" Reeves' opportunity and team status, of course this is understandable. But the problem is that this will also prevent Reeves from making progress, and even the probability of being traded after being defined as a role player will be greatly increased.
