reported on July 21 that Real Madrid's summer transfer market has invested a lot, with 178 million euros.
Real Madrid failed to win the Champions League, La Liga and Club World Cup last season, which prompted the club to decide to update the squad. So far, Real Madrid has spent €178 million in the summer transfer market, the highest spending since 2019. Among them, the introduction of A fees from Benfica cost 50 million euros.
Despite this, this lineup update is not as comprehensive as it was from 2018 to 2019. During those two years, the club invested more than 500 million euros, introducing key players such as Courtois, Vinicius, Militon, Rodrigo and Mendy. This summer, Real Madrid focused mainly on strengthening the defense line, and the defense became a major weakness last season due to injury issues. Therefore, most of the funds are used to introduce defenders such as Wyson (€58 million), Arnold (€7 million) and A-fee (€50 million). In addition, the midfielder was strengthened and signed Mastantono for 63 million euros.
In the past five years, Real Madrid has performed relatively conservatively in the transfer market, spending only about 303.5 million euros in total, ranking 39th in the world. By comparison, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona spent €451.7 million and €431.5 million respectively during the same period.
But this summer, with the arrival of A-fee, only Chelsea and Liverpool have surpassed Real Madrid in terms of transfer fees. The overall transfer fee of the Premier League has exceeded 1.6 billion euros, far exceeding any other league. Obviously, Real Madrid, which has not won a major trophy, is ready to open their wallet to strengthen the team.
