Mbemo has raised the price to 70 million! Manchester United is too slow to hinder signing a replacement, Brentford has increased the price

Manchester United still hopes to sign Mbemo before the team goes to the United States for training. If Amorin's wish is to be fulfilled, it must reach an agreement with Brentford before next Tuesday. However, the Red Devils may face greater pressure in the negotiations, and all they have is verbal confidence.
Brentford has rejected Manchester United's two offers, the first time was £55 million and the second time was £62.5 million. The "League of Bees" requires that the same fixed transfer fee of £62.5 million is required to ensure the same fixed transfer fee as Cunya, while the Red Devils gave a maximum payment amount of only £55 million. The other part is a floating clause with conditions. The other party believes that the payment conditions are unrealistic, which is equivalent to not being there.
Manchester United insists that they will only accept reasonable prices, while Brentford believes that he demanded the same fee as Cunha for Mbemo, who scored 20 goals and assisted 8 times last season, and the two sides are in a stalemate.
As early last month, Manchester United thought they were about to sign Mbemo. At the end of June, Manchester United's sports director Jason Wilcox told his boss Jim Ratcliff that Mbemo was about to join, and Brentford also privately stated that the players expected to undergo a physical examination soon. Manchester United knows that £65 million can be sold, but hopes to lower spending.
However, Brentford's change of coach changed the process. After Thomas Frank coached Tottenham Hotspur, he invited Mbemo to go to Tottenham Stadium, but the Cameroon international hoped to realize the "children's dream". Mbemo changed his agent last year with the goal of leaving Brentford.
Mbemo's contract with Brentford expires in 2026, but Brentford has the right to renew the contract for another one year, so it is equivalent to two years left, and the club has the initiative. Moreover, Mbemo had no intention of making a transfer. If the negotiations between the two clubs fail, even though he was unhappy, he would stay in the team. At present, he has joined the pre-season training camp for the Bees.
The Guardian said that Brentford has now raised Mbemo's valuation to 70 million pounds, which means requiring a fixed transfer fee of 62.5 million pounds, plus a floating clause of 7.5 million pounds. This does not mean that the transaction will fail, but it will definitely make the bargaining process more complicated and takes longer.
Brentford's move to introduce a potential replacement for Mbemo was hampered due to delays in negotiations with Manchester United. They had hoped to activate Ipswich player Omari Hutchinson's default clause for £35 million, which was valid before 17pm on Tuesday, but the Bees missed the deadline. It is reported that like Manchester United's signing Mbemo, the fixed transfer fee given by Brentford did not meet Ipswich's requirements. They will still be in urgent need of purchases, but the prices may increase.
Some Manchester United fans jokingly claimed that they could intercept Hu Hutchinson and not buy Mbemo, but this was just a fantasy. Hutchinson won the U21 European Youth Championship for the National Youth League this summer, but his ability and performance are far inferior to Mbemo. He only scored 3 goals in 31 games last season, and signing him cannot improve Amorin's 343 lineup.
Manchester United will travel to Stockholm on Saturday against Leeds United and fly to Chicago next Tuesday, where they play their three Premier League summer tours. Even if it was impossible to reach an agreement on Mbemo before flying to North America, Manchester United remained confident that he had the opportunity to join in the middle and late stages of their 12-day overseas training. In 2023, Andre Onana, also from Cameroon, joined the team just after Manchester United's trip to the United States began and participated in the last two friendly matches with Real Madrid and Dortmund.
