Official: Miami International goalkeeper Karend transfers to Charlotte FC, in exchange for a distribution of 750,000 euros

August 19th official news, Miami International goalkeeper Drake Karend transferred to Charlotte FC for the 2025 EUR General Allocation Amount and 2026 EUR General Allocation Amount (GAM). Under the additional terms, Miami International may also receive a conditional allocation of up to 75,000 euros, while retaining the share ratio of the player's second transfer.

Calend, 27, was born in Sacramento, California. He transferred from the San Jose earthquake to Miami International in December 2019, becoming one of the club's founding season. After training for two seasons through Miami International II, he became the main goalkeeper of the first team in 2022, making 118 appearances for the team, becoming one of the first players in the club's history to reach a 100-game milestone. He maintained the record of the most appearances in the team history when he left the team.

Kalund is an important contributor to the club's two top-historical championship trophys: he won the best game in the 2023 Central and North American League Cup final and was elected the best goalkeeper in the tournament, helping the team win the first championship; then won the American League Supporter Shield Championship with a record 74 points in the 2024 season.
