Premier League official explanation Newcastle penalty kick was cancelled: Van Heckwick only has slight contact, insufficient judgment points

May 5th In the 35th round of the Premier League, Newcastle played away against Brighton. In the 71st minute of the game, Willok fell in a penalty area and fought for the ball with Van Heck. The referee awarded a penalty immediately. After VAR intervened, Willok was sentenced to fake a fall.

The Premier League official explained this penalty: VAR verified the foul on the referee Van Heck on the field and awarded a penalty kick, and suggested that the referee on the field review. Van Heck's tackle was considered a slight contact and was not enough to award a penalty. After looking back, the referee on the field gave Brighton an indirect free kick and showed Willok a yellow card for a fake fall.
