Premier League transfer news: Liverpool reaches Mark Guyish transfer agreement, Reds welcome new players

11:40pm, 2 July 2025Football

Liverpool is about to finalize the transfer of Crystal Palace defender Mark Guerry, who will accept a sharp price cut in the centre-back fee, but the deal will mainly benefit a Premier League opponent.

Liverpool kicked off the summer transfer with a series of moves, but manager Alerney Slot's team is far from complete.

Despite winning the Premier League title last season, they are now seeking to strengthen the roster. Florian Wilz was the highlight of the signing this summer, with Liverpool breaking the UK transfer record, while Milosh Elker and Jeremy Fremp also came to Anfield.

George Mamadashvili's signing was confirmed a year ago, with Freddy Woodman arriving as a substitute goalkeeper after leaving Preston. The next item on the agenda is the new centre-back. Jarrel Kunassa appears to be heading to Leverkusen, and Mark Guïch is linked to rumors of an upgraded signing.

Meanwhile, Darwin Nunes failed to impress once again last season, seemingly ready to leave, although his departure is not entirely simple.

Gehi traded to close

Liverpool are approaching their next transfer target, and Mark Guys is approaching the transfer from Crystal Palace. Crystal Palace may accept an offer of about £40 million to sell the star player, who had asked for £70 million last summer in the final year of his contract.

The England international has been a key figure in the team since he transferred from Chelsea to Crystal Palace in 2021. This season, he has made 150 appearances for Crystal Palace, leading the team to a FA Cup final.

24-year-old Guy will be a major upgrade for Quasah, who is preparing to leave the team, and will compete with Van Dijk for the starting position.

Chelsea will benefit from the Gughi trade

Crystal Palace is not the only team that has benefited from Guy. It is understood that his former club, Chelsea, has a 20% second transfer clause, and if Guy sells it for an estimated £40 million, Chelsea will receive £8 million.

Chelsea has taken action this summer to bring in players like Liam Delapp and Dario Essogo. Once the Blues come back from the Club World Cup, more transfer funds can be used for more signings.

Jamie Gitteren is one of the players Enzo Maresa is following. Despite a failure to reach a deal before the club's World Cup, discussions on the potential transfer of the Dortmund winger continue, with the two sides reportedly reaching an agreement on a £55 million transfer fee.

Nunes exited and waited

Darwin Nunes is ready to leave Liverpool, but he may need to be patient. This is due to Naples' interest in the Uruguayan player, but they have a much lower valuation of him than Liverpool.

Liverpool asked Nunes for £70 million, and the player joined from Benfica in a high-profile deal in 2022. However, Naples believes a figure close to £50 million is a fairer valuation for players with limited opportunities at Anfield last season.

Last summer, Nunez started only eight games for Liverpool's league, and he is usually the second choice for Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota in the forward position. Naples has funds available after selling Kvaratskhelia in January, but no agreement has been reached on the transfer fee.
