The highest-ranking official in sports anti-corruption was dismissed! Gou Zhongwen was arrested last year and was prosecuted today

The Jiangsu procuratorate filed a public prosecution for Gou Zhongwen suspected of accepting bribes and abuse of power in accordance with the law. Gou Zhongwen is the highest-level official to be dismissed since the anti-corruption storm in China's sports system.

After investigation, Gou Zhongwen lost his ideals and beliefs, betrayed his original mission, implemented the major decisions and arrangements of the Party Central Committee and fulfilled the main responsibility of comprehensively and strictly governing the Party, seriously undermining the political ecology of the sports system;

violated the spirit of the Central Eight Regulations, accepted gifts, accepted banquets and arranged tourism activities in violation of regulations;

signed and approved large amounts of funds in violation of the principle of democratic centralism, did not explain the problem truthfully when organizing letters of inquiries, and did not conduct any cadre selection and appointment work. Others seek benefits and accept property;

Use power to provide assistance to relatives' business activities and engage in power and sex transactions;

Uncorrectly performing duties in sports construction or acquisition, and privately retain confidential documents;

Using public instruments for private use, conducting power and money transactions, using their position to profit others in business operations, job adjustments, etc., and illegally accepting huge amounts of property;

Make arbitrary decisions, abuse of power, and cause huge economic losses.

The procuratorate prosecution alleges that the defendant Gou Zhongwen used his position as deputy mayor of the Beijing Municipal Government, member of the Standing Committee of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee, deputy secretary of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee, secretary of the Party Group and director of the General Administration of Sports of China, as well as the convenient conditions formed by his power or status to seek benefits for others, and illegally accept property from others, in a particularly huge amount; Gou Zhongwen, as a staff member of the state organs, abused his power, causing significant losses to public property, the interests of the state and the people, and the circumstances were particularly serious. He should be held criminally responsible for the crime of accepting bribes and abuse of power according to law.
