Beautiful! Lakers and Celtics 2 for 1? This deal is what Doncic is willing to see

24-25 regular season, when Derek White was present, the Celtics had a net victory of 10.4 points in 100 rounds in 2574 minutes, and the team had a net victory of 7.2 points in 1392 minutes without the court.

Although they all win, it is obvious that the Celtics have a higher probability of winning when White is on the court.

As a role player, why is White so important to the team?

For this, I think there are two explanations:

first, offensive end. 461 of 959 shots came from receiving and shooting rate of 41.0%; 312 shots came from holding and shooting rate of 41.5%. In other words, White also has the ability to do not have the ball. It has greatly enriched the team's skills and tactics.

If Tatum and Brown feel bad on the spot or are defended by their opponents, White can effectively carry the ball and launch an attack. For example, against the Knicks' G5, when Tatum was injured and Brown was in poor condition, White led the team to a key victory with 34 points.

In addition, as shown in the picture above, White also has good three-point shooting ability - the defender made 68 three-pointers within 4 feet, with a shooting rate of 39.7%.

Having a certain three-point shooting ability brings effective restraint of the defender (as shown in the picture above, successfully attracting Magic player Harris) to open up space for teammates' offense and indirectly improve teammates' ending efficiency. For example, when Tatum and White were on the court, the shooting rate of 100 rounds could increase by 2.3 percentage points.

Second, defensive end. The opponent's shooting rate was limited from 46.0% to 44.0% in 1053 times. Specific split:

1, accounting for 67.4% of the defender, limiting the shooting rate of 41.4%;

2, accounting for 26.8% of the defense line, limiting the shooting rate of 46.7%;

3, accounting for 5.9% of the defense line, limiting the shooting rate of 59.7%.

In other words, except for Jokic, Wenban Yama and other inside players with sufficient tonnage and high height advantages, White has relatively good defensive performances.

In summary, we can define White as a "3D" player with a certain ability to hold the shot. Obviously, this type of player will help the team very much on both offense and defense.

Why is Derek White?

It is very important. Some media revealed that given the salary pressure, the Lakers and Celtics are expected to reach a deal between 2 and 1, namely Reeves and Cleber for White. This potential deal can help the Celtics release some of their salary space.

For this potential deal, I think Doncic is willing to see.

Reason 1: Three points. With the ability to rush to shoot, as mentioned just now, it can play a role in restraining the defenders and opening up space. For Doncic, it would be relatively easier to have White's offensive end.

Reason 2: Defense. With White's presence, Doncic will have much less pressure on the defensive end. To be precise, you can oppose and lead the opponent's ball holder to prevent Doncic from being directly exposed to the opponent.

Overall, with the clear characteristics of "3D", White can help Doncic on both offense and defense.
