Warriors rumors: Scout reveals "best option" that Jonathan Cumingga may encounter

According to the scout, in the critical offseason, the "best choice" that Warriors forward Jonathan Cumingga may encounter is as follows.

The future of young forward Jonathan Cumingga has not yet been determined as the Golden State Warriors are eager to win the championship in 2026. With rumors surrounding the Warriors and Cuminga, a scout speculated on the 22-year-old's best development prospects.

Kuming entered the offseason as a restricted free agent, and if the Warriors cannot reach an agreement, they will seek to win some rewards for him by signing first and then switching. A scout who spoke with ESPN's Kevin Pelton believes that this is the best option for Kumingga.

"The best result for him is to sign first and then switch," the scout told ESPN.

Admittedly, Kumingga has experienced a turbulent season and showed off his talent for starting, but injuries and Jimmy Butler's trade have caused him to drop. Pelton also said that the Golden State Warriors "possibly" choose to sign first and switch, and teams such as the Brooklyn Nets and the Chicago Bulls are his choices.

"The 22-year-old Kumingga should be a more stable contributor over time," Pelton wrote. "But given that Kuminga's skills overlap with Butler and Draymond Green's skills, other teams are more likely to achieve this besides the Warriors. And, the Golden State Warriors are also willing to balance the roster by signing and then switching."

"Like all restricted free agents, the Brooklyn Nets are under tremendous pressure," Pelton continued. "If the Nets believe in Cuminga, they have the ability to build a roster around him. The Bulls can try signing and then switching, and maybe send Nikola Vucevic to the Warriors, giving Cuminga a role similar to Demar DeRozan's once in Windy City."

Jonathan Cuminga has "strong support" for the Warriors

Although head coach Steve Cole may have hinted that Cuminga will leave the Warriors, his talent is undoubtedly able to help many other teams that need his advantage. ClutchPoints' Bretts Segal also reported the idea of signing first and then switching, mentioning that team owner Joe Lacob will first provide a "qualified offer" because he has always been "strong support" of Kumingga.

"If the Warriors want to trade Kuminga in the offseason, Lacob won't let the young forward go easily," Siegel wrote. "The Golden State Warriors will offer Cuminga a qualified offer to make him a restricted free agent. While any team may consider signing a offer with him, only the Brooklyn Nets have plenty of cap space."

"Lakob has been a staunch supporter of Cuminga, which is why the young forward failed to negotiate a deal with the Los Angeles Clippers last summer," Siegel continued.

Anyway, after being eliminated in the second round of the NBA playoffs, the Golden State Warriors look like they are improving.
