Liverpool official: Youth training stadium is renamed, paying tribute to former chairman David Morse

Hupu October 2nd News Liverpool Club Officials pay special tribute to David Morse, who passed away in July 2022 at the age of 76, in recognition of his contribution to the club during his 16-year term.

This lifelong Liverpool fan has served as the club's chairman since September 1991. During his tenure, the Reds have won 10 important honors, including the "Triple Champions" of the 2000/01 season (League Cup, FA Cup, League Cup) and the 2005 Champions League championship. These achievements were completed by his appointed coach Geral Ulier and Rafa Benitez.

In 2007, Morse sold his majority stake in the club and quit the board, but has been the lifelong honorary chairman of Liverpool. Under his promotion, the club's current youth training base in Kirkby was completed and opened in 1998, providing a modern training environment for youth echelons and development projects.

In honor of him, Liverpool has named a stadium at the academy training base after Morse. Thursday's unveiling was attended by the Morse family and several club legends, including Sir Kenny Dalglish, Roy Evans, Sammy Lee and Phil Thompson, as well as youth training director Alex Ingleshorpe and club legal and external affairs director Jonathan Bamber.

Bamber said: "We are very pleased to unveil this special tribute to former boss and chairman David Morse for his leadership and love for Liverpool Football Club. David will always be part of the club's brilliant history and will be remembered as a passionate supporter."

Moore's children David Morse II and Lisa Morse Pierce said: "We are extremely proud that Liverpool can commemorate their father in this way. Cultivating young players has always been a career he is passionate about, so erecting this nameplate on the stadium of the youth training base is of special significance."
