On May 23, Real Madrid Club of La Liga issued an announcement announcing the team's meritorious midfielder, and Golden Ball winner Modric will leave the team after the Club World Cup.

Real Madrid and our captain Modric have decided to end the partnership after the season, and our team will participate in the Club World Cup held in the United States on June 18.
Real Madrid hopes to express gratitude and deep love to this player who has become one of the greatest legends in our club and world football.
Modric joined Real Madrid in 2012 and became an indispensable player in one of the most glorious eras in our history. In his thirteen seasons for the team, he has won 28 championships: 6 Champions League titles, 6 Club World Cup titles, 5 European Super Cup titles, 4 La Liga titles, 2 Copa del Rey titles and 5 Spanish Super Cup titles.
Modric is one of only five players in football history to win the Champions League six times, and is also the player with the most championships in Real Madrid's 123 years of history.
On an individual level, Modric won the Golden Ball Award and was named UEFA Male Player of the Year 2018. He has been selected for the FIFA All-A-League six times and has been named the Champions League best midfielder twice.
Modric has played 590 games for our team and scored 43 goals. He has also won the Golden Ball Award and the Silver Ball Award in the Club World Cup.
He has played 186 times for the Croatian national team, maintaining the record of the largest number of national team appearances. He has won the 2018 World Cup Golden Globe Awards and the 2022 World Cup Bronze Awards.
