August 28 The Athletic reported that Liverpool's coaching team added new members - appointing Louis Fernando Yubel as the club's head coach of personal development.
It is reported that the Brazilian coach has resigned as assistant coach of Minero Athletics and will officially perform his duties in Anfield on September 1 after obtaining a work permit. Yubel's arrival will bring about role adjustments to the coaching staff: Aaron Briggs is expected to be officially appointed as the first team set-piece coach. Briggs has been serving as personal development coach since joining the team in July 2024.
The appointment of Yubel is the result of Liverpool's four rounds of strict global recruitment process. Those involved in the recruitment assessment include Slott, Fenway Technical Director Julian Ward, Fenway Football Development Director Pedro Max, Sports Director Richard Hughes, and Youth Training Academy Director Ingerthorp.
The 36-year-old Yuber became a candidate to stand out because of his rich youth training experience in Brazilian clubs (such as Athletic Kuaba and Athletic Minero), and he is good at guiding young players' growth and development.
Yubel will be responsible for the training and support of the first team, U21 and U18 teams, and at the same time, deeply participate in the development and management of young players from outside the loan, helping them build a growth path to the first team. In addition, he will also assume important responsibilities in coaching potential young talented players such as Ngumoha and Nioni.
Yuber is proficient in Portuguese and English, and speaks some Spanish and German, and holds a number of qualifications such as the South American Football Federation professional coach license, UEFA A license, and UEFA elite youth training A-level coach license.
Under his guidance, players who successfully landed in the top European leagues from the Brazilian League include: Paichan (Marseille), Igor Jesus (Nottingham Forest), Cootto (Dorthmund) and Vinicius (Lyon).
Liverpool had publicly recruited full-time set piece coaches as early as last summer, but because they did not find the right candidate, they finally decided to include set piece training guidance in Briggs's responsibilities. Now with Yubel's joining, Briggs will be able to focus on set pieces tactics full-time.
